6th Ave. Inn
seems the only thing that works right now is this phone line. brevity is the
soul of those who are tired? tired of it? just got back from ny, there for
one night, 10 hours to be exact; played a 45 minute set that was
underwhelming. timmy and i played well enough, but those trips just don't
have that thing, or at least this one didn't. got to see my friends Tenki
play at Arlene's, a "chicago" showcase, thought they stole the show. i was
around the corner playing at a canadian record label showcase. seems the
canadians will have me before my own hometown. but i ramble, been up for
three days straight and seattle is gloomy as hell. i'd enjoy it any other
day. would you? a soon as i fend off the demons from the first record, i am
starting the next...i've got a month, hate mail from my family and more
songs than i can finish.

tour journal:
just finished up my last date opening for tom mcrae and rachael in san fran.
wanted to write you and give you a little on the cities i've
been visiting. played some new places, got back to a few old ones. my
first opening date was in chicago at the metro. was good to be home,
something about that crowd, was nice they were with me. next was off to
indianapolis, my home away from home. birdys was a blast; looking forward
to going back to indy in january for a home-cooked jimmy pruitt party. the
minneapolis show at the fine line was amazing. the crowds there have
been very supportive. it's all thanks to you shellae.
stepped into the Spinal Tap shrine that was the shank hall in milwaukee,
with its model-sized stonehenge hanging behind the stage. they have this
wall that has spinal tap memorabilia encased in glass. the club was named
after the fictitious club that Spinal Tap played in Milwaukee. the talented
tim requarth was kind enough to meet me at the midwest dates and join me on
piano-he makes the songs happen on another level. really looking forward to
our upcoming recording sessions. many pictures up soon, i know i have been
saying that..but really we have a ton to put up from the last few tours.
the maintenance shop in ames ia is like playing in a basement church chapel
with stained glass, wood beams and brick walls. despite some sound issues,
the crowd was very attentive. st. louis i am in love with. thanks to
sarah and the kind folks at kayak coffee for having me play, their first
show ever. we look forward to coming back. check out the press section of
the site for an interview i did with the St. Louis Playback. Thanks to Jim
and Laura for coming to both shows, and for all the support. knew i was
back in lawrence ks as i saw that damn toy horse carousel on mass. st. and
keif's record store-got the basement tapes and bachelor #2. played a new
club the jackpot lounge, they had a real piano and they had... a real piano.
even tho i didn't open in boulder co i have to mention the amazing support
i get from andy at albums on the hill. one of the best record stores i have
ever been to. i look forward to getting back to trilogy lounge and albums
on the hill as soon as possible. my first time in salt lake city was brief.
i played at liquid joe's then promptly flew out to nyc for a cmj show. my
ride to the airport at 4 am was pulled over by the cops, so i awoke the only
cab driver in SLC at the time and barely made my flight. made my way back
to seattle after 10 hours in ny and had a day off in seattle which was how
you would think seattle would look this time of year. was nice to see you
sera, please send me songs... picked up a hitchhiker en route to san fran.
slim's in san fran was the last show for me. think i made some friends, and i thank you all who came out to the shows. thanks sam for
getting us to every show safely and thanks neil and adam for all your
help... and johnny, the great scot soundsman. cheers
see you again soon.
